This computer vision based smartphone app will classify whether or not an okra is ripe by predicting how likely its tip will snap–an indicator of okra ripeness. The user can choose to take a photograph or choose an existing one of a an okra on a flat, white surface. The app will segment the okra and determine whether the photograph consists of an okra or not. If the app determines that an okra is present, it will classify its ripeness and change the color of the background to correspond with the prediction.
For future versions of this app, the goal is to improve model accuracy as well as increase processing speed and the apps practicality.
